HIM 253 - Health Records Coding

Examines the development of coding classification systems. Introduces ICD-10-CM coding classification system, its format and conventions. Stresses basic coding steps and guidelines according to body systems. Provides actual coding exercises in relation to each system covered. Lecture 4 hours per week.

Prerequisite(s): HIM 111, BIO 145 or BIO 141/BIO 142 and readiness to enroll in ENG 111.
