Science - Computer Science Specialization, AS

The associate of science degree program with a major in Science and a Computer Science specialization is designed for students who wish to pursue a four-year degree in Computer Science. The curriculum is mapped to Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), CSTransfer curriculum, which has Cybersecurity infusion.

The specialization in Computer Science prepares students with core knowledge and skills needed for entry into baccalaureate schools of education programs in computer science. Students should be knowledgeable about the specific requirements of the four-year school to which they wish to transfer so that they make appropriate course choices.

1 A two course sequence of laboratory science is required - BIO 101 /BIO 102 CHM 111 /CHM 112 PHY 241 /PHY 242 .
2 Students should check with the institution to which they will be transferring to determine the most appropriate courses to take at Laurel Ridge Community College.
3 Choose from ELECTIVES General Studies All Programs (excluding Liberal Arts Degrees) .
4 CS approved electives include any CSC course not otherwise used in program of study - MTH 161  or higher, any science elective (ELECTIVES General Studies ), CST 100 CST 110  or EGR 270.  Students should consult with the institution to which they are transferring to determine the most appropriate Laurel Ridge Community College courses to take.
