Program Description/Purpose: Designed to provide an individual with a sufficient level of knowledge, understanding and proficiency to perform the tasks in meeting client needs which can be performed by a trained, non-lawyer assistant working under the direction and supervision of a licensed attorney.
Occupational Outcomes: The occupational objectives include employment in public and private organizations agencies as a legal assistant, paralegal or legal research assistant.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will effectively identify elements of a tort based on a factual scenario.
- Students will demonstrate the ability to accurately complete a Virginia child support guideline worksheet in accordance with Virginia statutory guidelines.
- Students will legally analyze fact patterns utilizing IRAC (Issue, Rule, Application, Conclusion).
