Science Degree, AS (880)

Program Description/Purpose: Designed for persons interested in pre-professional scientific programs who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a baccalaureate or higher degree program with a major in one of the following fields: agriculture, astronomy, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, botany, chemistry, computer science, dentistry, engineering, entomology, environmental science, forestry, genetics, geology, home economics, horticulture, marine biology, mathematics, meteorology, medicine, nuclear science, pre-pharmacy, physics, science education, veterinary medicine, wildlife biology or zoology.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students will critically interpret scientific data in various formats.
  2. Students will demonstrate proficiency in scientific problem-solving.
  3. Students will recognize methods of inquiry that lead to scientific knowledge.
  4. Students will identify scientific principles.

Science Degree Curriculum Requirements:   

Student Development (1 cr)


Natural Science - Biology or Chemistry Sequence (8 cr)


Take either both Biology courses or both Chemistry courses listed

Communications (3 cr)

Information Literacy (3 cr)

Major Requirements (21 cr)


Select one option from each group below, for a total of at least 21 credits

Depending on the courses selected, an additional elective may be required to meet the 21 credit minimum for this requirement and the 60 credit minimum for the degree. Please speak with an advisor for assistance in selecting courses to complete this degree.

 

 

Science Degree Elective


Select at least one option

If one course has been completed for each degree requirement above but total credits taken for the degree are lower than 60, an additional Science Degree Elective course must be taken to meet the 60-credit minimum for the degree.
