The associate of science degree program with a major in Science and a Health Professions specialization is designed for students who are interested in health professions programs who plan to transfer to a health profession such as: dental hygiene, occupational therapy, nursing, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiation technology, or other allied health programs.

Students should be knowledgeable about the specific requirements of the four-year school to which they wish to transfer so that they make appropriate course choices.

Program Curriculum

First Semester

ENG 111 - College Composition I 3 cr.
SDV 101 - Orientation to Health Professions 1 cr. OR
SDV 100 - College Success Skills 1 cr.

Second Semester

ENG 112 - College Composition II 3 cr.

Third Semester

BIO 150 - Introductory Microbiology 4 cr.
HLT 130 - Nutrition and Diet Therapy 2 cr. ⁶
PSY 230 - Developmental Psychology 3 cr.

Fourth Semester

PHI 227 - Bio-Medical Ethics 3 cr. OR
PHI 220 - Ethics 3 cr.

¹ Students may elect from the following courses to fulfill the computer / information literacy requirement: CSC 200 , ITE 115 , or ITE 119 .
² Students should check with the institution to which they will be transferring to determine the most appropriate math courses to take at LFCC - MTH 245 - Statistics I  should be taken prior to transferring.
