Program Description/Purpose: The Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Applied Data Science certificate focuses on foundational knowledge and practical skills in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science, to enable students the ability to analyze data, build predictive models, and apply AI techniques across various industries.  Experiential learning will prepare students to build machine learning models used for predicting, making decisions, and enhancing human capabilities with data sets from numerous domains. 

Occupational Outcomes: Upon completion of the career studies certificate, students are employable as entry-level workers in a variety of environments using artificial intelligence and machine learning, including information technology, automotive, healthcare, aerospace, industrial, and manufacturing industries.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Apply common artificial intelligence concepts and methodologies for analysis and decision-making.
  2. Apply artificial intelligence project development and machine learning life cycle to address social and business issues, opportunities, and problems.
  3. Apply machine learning algorithms to predict the usefulness of artificial intelligence programming solutions.
  4. Communicate in oral, visual, and wrtten professional settings involving artificial intelligence and applied data science topics. 
  5. Evaluate issues of bias, culture, environment, ethics, regulations, and professional expectations in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
