Program Description/Purpose: This career studies certificate leads to entry-level employment in the electrical industry and provides foundational knowledge and applied skills in basic electrical concepts, safety, wiring, motors and controls, and the National Electrical Code.
Occupational Outcomes: Upon completion of the career studies certificate, students are employable as entry-level maintenance workers, electrician’s helpers, and entry-level wiring technicians.
Program Student Learning Outcomes:
- Utilize charts and codes in accordance with the national electric code and state and local regulations.
- Use various test equipment and tools needed in the electrical industry.
- Apply principles of electricity to practical aspects of residential and non-residential wiring, electrical installation, troubleshooting, and servicing.
- Apply industrial power distribution fundamentals to installation, troubleshooting, and servicing at the component and system level.
- Demonstrate principles and practices of general industrial safety.
