Program Description/Purpose: The purpose of this career studies certificate is to provide students with an introduction to essential supervisory practices and help them build the foundational skills needed to guide and support teams in a variety of workplace settings.

Occupational Outcomes: Entry-level management/supervisor positions in business.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will apply basic principles and techniques of management to recruit, select, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate employees.
  2. Students will understand the economic, social and political forces, both domestic and international, that affect the business enterprise.
  3. Create and use effective oral, written, and visual business communication skills.
  4. Critically evaluate the alternatives faced in business decision making to select the most effective and efficient solution.

Supervision Career Studies Certificate Curriculum Requirements:

Program Total: 18 Credits


Students who register for the Supervision Career Studies Certificate are encouraged to explore continued educational pathways into a two-year degree program. Completion of a degree may provide opportunities for workplace advancement.

It is highly recommended that students consult with their academic advisor to select the most appropriate course for their curriculum and/or transferability to another college.
