This Career Studies Certificate program will offer students the opportunity to explore technology topics within the fields of Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Information Systems Technology.  For students who are unsure of a specific career path within the technology area, this program provides courses in principles of computer science, information systems, networking basics, and programming concepts.

Occupational Outcomes: Entry-level IT generalist positions.  Possible positions could include internships and trainee positions to provide an opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job experience.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will demonstrate a fundamental level of IT knowledge and skills in data communication, network modes of transmission and protocols.
  2. Students will understand the role of computers in business today including hardware, software, systems analysis and design, and implementation of information systems.

Credit for Certifications can be awarded for this course: ITN 100 .​​​​​

Course credit will be awarded for certifications issued within 5 years of the formal written request by a student. The formal request must include a statement that the student understands that credit for prior learning credit may not transfer to a 2-year college, 4-year college, or university.

 

It is highly recommended that students consult with their academic advisor to select the most appropriate course for their curriculum and/or transferability to another college.
