Patient Care Technician Career Studies Certificate (221-157-07)

This career studies certificate allows the student to earn their Certification as a Nurse Aide, gain employment and experience in the healthcare field, and take courses towards earning a Practical Nursing Certificate or AAS in Nursing.  Upon completion of NUR 27 and successfully passing the state certification exam, students will be employable as a CNA in various healthcare settings.  Additional credits earned in the PCT certificate are applied as general education credits and/or prerequisites for applying to LFCC Nursing programs.

Credits transfer to the Practical Nursing Certificate and AAS in Nursing degree programs.

Students who already possess a nurse aide certification will be awarded five credits for NUR 27 

Prerequisites: MTE 1 MTE 2  and MTE 3  and readiness to enroll in ENG 111 .

Admission Requirement: Students are required to have a background check and a drug screen. Failure to pass either will prevent the students from continuing course. Students must also complete health and physical forms.

Program Total: 19 Credits


1 Students who already possess a Nurse Aide Certification (CNA) will be awarded 5 credits for NUR 27 .

2 BIO 141  preferred for Nursing track, BIO 145  does not transfer to AAS in Nursing.
