Science - Forensic Science Specialization, AS

Program Description/Purpose: Designed to introduce students to the many disciplines available within the field while providing a basic foundation to pursue specific areas of interest at a four-year college or university.

Occupational Outcomes: Upon graduation with a forensic science specialization associate degree, students can obtain employment as a forensic science technician or a records officer.

Program Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will critically interpret scientific data in various formats.
  2. Students will demonstrate proficiency in scientific problem-solving.
  3. Students will recognize methods of inquiry that lead to scientific knowledge.
  4. Students will identify scientific principles.

Transfer Information: students should consult with their advisor to ensure that they select electives that best prepare them for the specific requirements of their intended transfer university’s program of study. More information can also be found at www.laurelridge.edu/transfer.

Courses are displayed under the semester in which they are regularly offered and are recommended to be taken in this sequence to ensure graduation in two years. It is possible that a course shown in a particular semester may not be offered due to low enrollment or other factors.

Program Curriculum


Program Total: 60-62 Credits


1 MTH 245 - Statistics I  should be taken prior to transferring.
2  It is recommended that students choose from the following electives: ADJ 228 , ADJ 236 , ADJ 278 , CHM 111 , CHM 112 , PHY 201 , PHY 202 , BIO 101 , or BIO 102 .
3 A full-year sequence of BIO, CHM, or PHY with lab is required.
4 It is recommended that students choose from the following: SOC 200 , PSY 200 , or PSY 230 .

5 Students should select from ELECTIVES STEM Science/Technology/Engineering/Math  .
