Program Description/Purpose: The Cybersecurity Specialist Career Studies Certificate is designed to provide the skills needed to secure, protect and identify vulnerabilities in a network, including various operating systems and network devices. Emphasis is placed on developing the theoretical, legal, ethical, and practical skills needed to maintain security on mission-critical networking and server systems.
Occupational Outcomes: Entry-level employment in the Cybersecurity field.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Students will analyze a broadly defined security problem and apply principles of cybersecurity to identify and implement solutions.
- Students will analyze the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and its use of asymmetric encryption methodology.
- Students will apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats.
- Students will recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in cybersecurity practice based on industry initiatives including legal and ethical principles.
